Are there any other reality TV fans out there? I've was going to post about my reality TV addiction as a secret vice, but as long as I've outed myself, I may as well admit that I still watch way too much reality programming, although I'm getting more discriminating, so there's hope for me yet. There was a time when the dh was searching the Yellow Pages for self-help groups for reality TV watchers. True story!
I still watch Survivor, The Amazing Race, American Idol (is that considered reality programming?) and several others. My true guilty pleasure is The Girls Next Door, which airs on E! at mysterious times, so I can never quite keep up with it. It's the show that's shot at the Playboy Mansion and stars Hef's three current girlfriends, Holly, Bridget and Kendra.
It's amazingly fun to watch, and I have no idea why. You could never call me a fan of Hefner's or the Playboy philosophy. In fact, I can remember protesting his magazine in my feminist days in college, but this show has a charm I can't quite explain. It focuses on the women and their efforts to run the mansion, hostess various events, and keep Hef entertained, which is actually a fairly simple matter these days. He's in bed by nine, and it appears he's there to sleep, lol. There are no sexy romps to be seen, unless it's the women posing together for the magazine, and only one of them is actually his girlfriend, so it's pretty tame fare, all in all, compared to what might have been expected. Still, he's amazingly spry for eightyish. We should all be so with it.
So, how about you? Do you prefer reality or regular TV? And what are your favs of the current programming?

I don't like reality tv at ALL . . . with one notable exception. America's Next Top Model. I know, I know. I probably would have protested it the way Suz protested Playboy, at most points in my life, but I've fallen in love with it. I think mostly because it allows me to feel smugly superior to tall, gorgeous models, because they're such immature whiners, and most aren't too bright. Some are, but uh, when one was asked her opinion on fur, she replied that she thought it was fine as long as the animal was already dead before you skinned it, you know, like road kill or dead of old age or something, not just killed for the fur.
Oooooooooooooookay.
=) I hope she wins, cause, let's face it, what else is she ever going to be qualified to do?
LOL, Maggie! I hope she wins too, poor kid. What a goofball. I wonder if she's blond, which I'm allowed to wonder because I'm blonde--and love blonde jokes. Another of my guilty pleasures.
I forgot about America's Top Model. I love it too, but have a hard time keeping track of when it's on. As reality shows go, it's one of my favs, just a great peak at the inside workings of that industry and actually, I'm encouraged that the girls still manage to be quite real, despite all the focus on looks. Not all, but some of them.
Suz, getting set to tape Aaazing Race tonight...
Suz--ANTM is on Wednesday nights, either 9 or 10 but that's EST. Not sure what time in your zone, but I'm sure it's Wednesdays. =)
I've watched Project Runway. But that's the only "reality" show I like. I find reality an oxymoron when it comes to most of these programs.
My favorite show (and lately come to it since I don't have HBO) is The Sopranos - I love T. I even blogged about it.

My favorite is back on TV. Dancing With The Stars. Most of the stars need lots of work. It is about the only show I devote my full attention to with the exception of NCIS. The rest are all watched while posting email.
