I'm leaping in here, hoping the power will stay on long enough to get my blogging done. The sky is falling (the trees, the snow, the rain, the wind). Woke up this morning with no power, it came on six hours later but it's iffy. Fortunately we're tough Vermonters -- Richie went out and sawed up the huge tree that came down across our driveway so our son could get back to college, and then we just hunkered down to read.
It's been a hell of an April, which doesn't help when I'm basically lying on the sofa trying to look interesting. I need sunshine, I need spring, but fate seems to conspire against me.
Anyone got some good storm stories? For me, tree down across the driveway, lines down at the four corners, wind whipping like crazy and the power isn't going to last.
What's up with the rest of you? Is anyone getting spring?
Winds picking up again, which means the power will go again. Just gotta live without tv and the internet.
But like Gloria Gaynor, I will survive. How are the rest of you doing?

I'm visiting my daughter in Everett, WA - 20 miles north of Seattle. We had a sunny day yesterday and this morning was clear enough to see the mountains from her balcony. It's cloudy now - but everything is green and in bloom - even the leaves on the trees are filling out.
I'm hoping that all family and friends in the northeast have a safe few days. I'll be home in PA when it's over.
PS
Krissie - I'm sure you don't need to "look" interesting - even on a sofa.
Hope you're resting!
Got a good foot of the white stuff here in Central NY State. (The wilds of Cortland County!) Power was out most of the day, but it's back on this evening. My driveway is packed full. I'm debating whether to try to shovel out tomorrow or just be a hermit until it melts. Probably the former. I can't be a hermit for too long. The snow was really wet and heavy. But so far, everyone is safe and sound and it seems to have let up for the most part.
I suppose my prediction of an early spring is now officially ruled WRONG. But I swear and vow this is the LAST snow we'll see until at least November!
And I've been lying on the couch today too, for no good reason except that it was a good day to snuggle up and be lazy. =)

My chromos went back to school today after their spring break, but our district was about the only one that didn't close due to the snow, and all after school activities were closed. As Maggie mentioned, Central New York was pounded with nearly a foot of heavy, wet snow. Fortunately, the precip has turned to rain, but it's still bone-chilling cold around here.
I wish I'd been able to laze on my sofa today. It was a good day for it.
We (southern Albany County, NY) had a few inches of snow yesterday. Rain today, and flooding. Our school district closed about noon. I think they figured they'd better get the kids home while the buses could still get up all of the roads.
