Prayers, Good Thoughts, and Positive Vibes ... (Suzanne Forster)

All are needed as fire-ravaged southern Californians are faced with some of the worst firestorms this area has ever seen. As I write this, packed up and waiting for word on whether it’s safe to stay in my home with a wildfire of biblical proportions raging not twenty minutes away, I am glued to the reports on television that tell me I’m one of the lucky ones.

From Santa Barbara to San Diego, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, evacuated from their homes, often without being given a chance to gather up treasured pictures and mementoes. Some of these people were forced to go in their pajamas and slippers, leaving behind pets they were unable to find. Heartbreaking.

Thousands of these abandoned homes have already gone up in flames with everything in them, a lifetime of moments and memories incinerated. Historic landmarks are gone and priceless treasures turned to ash. It really is hell on earth here in socal.

I haven’t suffered their losses, but I’ve imagined them. And I do understand what it feels like to have to choose between your possessions, knowing you can only take a few things with you. How does anyone make those decisions? You have to, but it’s excruciating.

One of the dozen fires burning, the one nearest me, was started by an arsonist. I’m trying to decide what should be a fitting consequence for someone capable of so recklessly destroying our world and our lives, the things we hold most precious. I can’t quite grasp it. I really can’t. Possibly I am too enraged by the thought. Maybe I’m in shock. Right now I just hope they catch the bastard.

It is such a helpless feeling, waiting for word, watching the skies and listening for the winds. Right now it’s quiet. If it stays quiet, perhaps . . .

Meanwhile, if there are special prayers and blessings for those made homeless and helpless by fire, we need them here today.

Thank you for remembering,

Suz

Even in this day and age of 24 hr. global televised news, it's easy to see such devastating events as "happening to them". But we live in one world. Our world. So my prayers are with you and your family and the many families affected by the fires in CA.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who have lost property, pets or suffered injury and for you to escape fire damage. Rains are predicted to come in the next few days. My prayers are that when they come the fires will go out completely.

Hugs,

Ray

My heart goes out to those endangered by the fires and those who have lost their home. I understand wildfire well as I live in Montana where we had thousands of acres burning this summer near my home. The air was so full of smoke that it was practically unbreatheable for the months of July and August. Please be safe and leave if you must. Arsonists should be punished severely as they unnecessarily threaten the lives of others. The firefighters are to be commended for the service that they do for all of us.

I'm going to go look up the spell for protecting your home from fire. Meanwhile, hon, know I'm sending protective energy and all the rain you need energy, and winds die down energy, and healing and protection and comfort for all those impacted, and courage, strength and gratitude to the firefighters!

Hugs!

Suz. . . I can't understand arsonists and I think there should be at least a mandatory life sentence for anyone who sets a fire. No one can recompense these people for the fear and loss of so much, including memories.

Thinking of you and wishing away the fire.

Okay, found it.

You write the following words in a square on a breakable plate:
SATOR
AREPO
TENET
OPERA
ROTAS

The way it lines up the words can be read top to bottom, bottom to top, right to left and left to right.

Then you smash the plate into the fire. It's supposed to extinguish it. If you smash it onto the floor of your home before fire gets close it might have a protective effect.

We are some of those in southern California packed and waiting to evacuate....so far haven't had to leave. Air has been smoky and dry. It looks as if we won't have to leave...not like last time.

Thanks for all the prayers.

Thank you all for the prayers and concern. The winds died down and they stayed down. By this afternoon I was cautiously optimistic that at least our area was going to be okay. Maggie your energy worked! And so did all the prayers and good thoughts from the rest of you.

We were very lucky here, but the rest of socal is still aflame. As of tonight, a million people have had to evacuate their homes and a half a million acres have been burned, so please keep the good energy coming.

Maggie, I'm going to try that spell. I've never done a real one before.

Suz--yes, try the spell. It's an old folk magick charm, and I think it might come from the Pennsylvania Dutch, if I'm recalling my sources correctly. And I remembered it without looking it up!

I'm still sending energy, so much comfort too, for those who've lost so much. And for the animals!

Keep us posted please, hon!
