I was waiting to post today, hoping that maybe Lynn would make it out to us. The journey is still just a bit too far for her to wander.

This was her not the worst hell on earth week. Chemo is knocking her down and she has one week where she can at least answer her phone sometimes. Followed by another treatment and three full weeks of working toward standing back up again to go get more.

Our friend is in a world of hurt. And she's still determined to get back here to us. Thankfully the hurt is mostly medicine related and the cure still looks imminent.

Please don't ever think you've sent her enough love or strength. Or that she's tired of hearing our same old words. I think what we're all doing here, joining our strength together across the nation to send power to one of us who is lacking her own, is life in its fullest, deepest sense.

We might not be there folding clothes, or cleaning up chemo sickness, like I wish I was, but we're making a difference. We're helping. I love the fact that we can. That love works.

I am very thankful for every single one of you out there who continue to shower Lynn with the power that beats all powers. You make life worth living.

Lynn,

Fight, sweetie, fight.

You can't miss the Obama administration!

What would Molly Ivins think?

Please keep going just one day at a time.

Love,

Rebecca

Hi Lynn!

Here's something inspiring I found among my email today:

"EDISON FAILED 10,000 TIMES BEFORE PERFECTING THE INCANDESCENT ELECTRIC LIGHTBULB. DON’T WORRY IF YOU FAIL ONCE.

Arguably America’s greatest inventor, Thomas Edison had an extraordinarily positive perception of life that greatly enhanced his ability as an inventory. When others might have been hopelessly discouraged after failing thousands of times in an attempt to develop an electric light, the great Edison simply viewed each unsuccessful experiment as the elimination of a solution that wouldn’t work, thereby moving him that much closer to a successful solution. We could all take a lesson from Edison. Stories abound about inventors who quit trying and gave up too soon or miners who struck gold just a few feet beyond where someone else quit digging. There are few obstacles in life that will not succumb to consistent, sustained, intelligent, positive action. When you are discouraged after you’ve failed at something, remember Edison’s 10,000 failures before he arrived at the solution that forever changed the world."

I'm sure you know that Edison was the Hotel del Coronado's electrician and it will be time for ice skating at the Del soon!

All the best to you,

Mary M

When I married my husband I was his third wife. His first marriage lasted less then a year and his second produced my wonderful step son and lasted 3 years. I came into the picture when my step son was less then one. The marriage was on the rocks and in divorce proceedings before I came into the picture.

Anyway we started seeing each other and living together within 6months and married within a year. Needless to say my new mother in law was not keen on me. First because I was 10 yrs younger and second, she couldn't see how E could fall in love that fast, so soon after a divorce. We didn't get along and looking back now there was quite a bit of tug of war. Things started to ease up after we had been married longer then both his first marriages combined, but we were still not real keen on each other but we got along for my husbands sake.

She became ill with colon cancer and at the time I was the only one avaliable (did not work outside the home) to take her to her cemo treatments, radiation, spent a week with her at KU MED Center.

During this time we finally made peace with each other, I was just sad that it took something so life changing to knock some sense into us both.

I will always feel very blessed that I was able to be there for that wonderful woman every day for the rest of my life.

I feel very blessed to be there in spirit for someone I feel I know very well and has given so much, just through her wonderful stories and great thought provoking, funny, loving, inspired blog posts. God Bless, you are part of my daily thoughs and prayers!

ps...we've been married now for 29 years!

Some time I'll have to share my youngest son's 911 call. One of those NEVER LET YOU FORGET IT stories!

Lynn,

Scott says:

I got a new frog. I have lots of lizards and a turtle. They are toys. The green frog you have to press the back of it and it'll hop. And, um, I like to play with my lizard. And um I like to play with my frog. And I like to play with my turtle. My birthday is June 24. That's all. I done saying stuff.

Faith says:

Now my turn. Barbies. And dancing. I'm turning around. And coloring. And driving the car. I love mommy. I love Scott. And I love cars. I love computers. I got a dress. And I got movies. And Ninja Turtles. I have a cup. A dress. Lots of papers. I love my toys. I love my bedroom. Bye-bye!

Scott says:

I do Compass Learning on the computer. I'm done.

Okay, now it is my turn.

Lynn,

Hang tough. Sending many happy, positive thoughts and warm wishes your way.

Since it has been proven laughter has a positive affect on health, here is a short story which I hope brings laughter to your day.

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up nice -- picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some orange and grapefruit trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he
hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five
gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond, he
heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he
saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the
deep end. One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!"
The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator." Moral - Old men can still think fast.
